You won the Best Male Performance award at the 2007 International Freeski Film Festival, coming out of nowhere to beat some of the best skiers in the world. Was that a surprise when you found out?
Yeah, it was crazy for sure. At the time, I didn't know they were even hosting a festival out there. I was so stoked to get to film with the Level 1 crew that winter and get on the cover of their movie. It really was the cherry on top. Couldn't have been more stoked. I regret not being there, it seems like it would of been a good time.
You’ve always been a well-round skier, with talents both in and out of the park. Describe the absolute perfect fantasy ski day.
Fresh pow, good peeps, sunshine, fresh creative skiing. There is so much that hasn’t been done in our sport yet, so when that fire goes down, it's a good day.
Heroes?
Gigi Ruf, Nico Muller
The worst trend in skiing in the past 5 years?
Talking about unnatural tricks. It's right or left, none of this “unnatural” business.
Best trend?
Emphasis on style
You had a horrific crash late last winter. What did you break and how is it healing up?
Things are good now. I'm pretty much back to normal. I’ve got a few minor aches and pains but should be back in my boots when the snow starts flying. It really was bad though right afterwards, especially when Tanner Hall went down as well. I can't wait to get back at it—life is good.
